Who is Promising 100x Faster Data Insights?

(And is Now on the Azure Marketplace)

As we enter 2024, there has never been a time when data has held as high an intrinsic value to an organisation.  I have spoken before about data being the source of the new gold, the value that underpins an organisation’s success and future. The actual gold is the insights that can be gleaned from this data, leading to business action that makes an ongoing and real difference to an organisation.

Big Data has been one of those hyped terms alongside Cloud, AI and IOT over recent years, but as with these, others get past the hype and we are in a reality where organisations who have stepped up are already leveraging advantage from the value their data is bringing them and their customers.

To be able to get the value and mine for the gold in your data drives a need for powerful data analytics and tools that will source, analyse and transform this data into the information and insights needed by the organisation and its individuals. Data analytics is critical in empowering organizations to make smart data-driven decisions, to optimise operations, enhance customer experiences, mitigate risks, and drive innovation. With continued increases in data volumes and complexity of data sprawl, businesses able to leverage data analytics will have significant competitive advantage in the market.

Data Analytics is not new by any means, but the challenge as we enter more mature data modelling and analysis needs (with larger, more complex and disparate data sets) is how to empower an organisation to quickly utilise it.

It is key that an organisation is able to get its arms around its data and extract value and ad-hoc insights across the enterprise in an affordable, controlled and usable manner, Thus delivering data value, in a simple format, to the user who needs it to make smart decisions and take relevant informed action.

In speaking with Kyvos, it is clear their direction for the solution came from finding a real customer issue which was not being fulfilled by existing solutions and that they developed the solution after investing heavily in time, resources and great effort. The culmination is a cloud solution available across platforms that supports diverse data sources with pillars encompassing ADW, USL, Data Mesh, GenAI, OLAP and BI & Reporting targeting the growing number of data-first organisations.

An important step that I found interesting is the Universal Semantic Layer that Kyvos creates for you in the cloud. What does this mean…. Put simply, it is a business representation of your unified data that enables your end users to access it in a simplified and consolidated manner, i.e. the work is done for you and them. Your users (with access permissions) can then easily perform data modelling, calculations and what if analysis against this unified true view of your business.

Behind this Kyvos Semantic later, your data can be any one or a combination of cloud platforms (such as Azure, AWS, Google Cloud), data warehouses (e.g. Databricks, Snowflake, etc) or on-premise data lakes. Importantly, Kyvos offers robust enterprise security with a model of user, access, object, row and column level security.

A beauty of Kyvos is that you can connect to this semantic layer from anywhere (securely) using your chosen BI or Analytics toolset (such as Power BI, Tableau, etc), meaning different users and departments access a unified view through their BI tool of choice or can opt to use the Kyvos built-in reporting . (unless you elect for this). This data abstraction also delivers lightning-fast access and responses using Kyvos own patented AI-powered smart aggregation technology, which is key to driving users to truly utilise data insights as a part of their daily regime, rather than sporadically. It is proven that a truly data driven and empowered organisation outperforms its competitors consistently. Too often I have seen (and used) data reporting and analytics that has fallen short on adoption through a variety of reasons; data not consistently consolidated and slow response times when the data queried is large!

AI is being talked about everywhere, but in the case of analysing large data sets and answering the question we didn’t know to ask; to let us find out what we didn’t know we didn’t know it has high value. Kyvos includes GenAI, an automatic capability to deliver comprehensive insights to the people that need them. With the data sprawl that we now need to deal with it is key that a secure and fast data warehouse is available as the core of any analytics. Kyvos delivers this in its ADW (Analytical Data Warehouse) which delivers analytical warehousing through advanced visualisation.

Kyvos also importantly provides its own Data Mesh technology that addresses the challenges associated with scaling and managing data in large organizations making the data more scalable and agile. Data responsibilities are distributed between domain-specific teams, allowing each team to have ownership and expertise over the data relevant to their specific domain or business area enabling the agility and autonomy needed to drive data as a valuable product to the organisation.

Shielding business users from data complexity and delivering real time responses is key to adoption of such a solution in order to bring value to the business.  You can have all the data in the world and all the tools, but if the users do not use it habitually then insights and smart actions will not be the outcome!

Kyvos provides the scale and power to affordably visualise all of your historical data (even on billions of data points) and includes advanced OLAP functionalities like Custom Rollup, Ragged Hierarchy, Alternate Hierarchy, Parent-Child Hierarchy. OLAP capabilities are crucial for businesses that deal with large volumes of data and need to extract meaningful insights for decision-making. OLAP is  designed to provide high performance querying even with massive datasets using pre-aggregation, indexing and caching. I am impressed at the scale of data that Kyvos can handle with its reported response times and affordable commercial model.

Kyvos promises to disrupt the status quo and address some of the commonest enterprise data challenges of speed, scale and savings to deliver 100x faster data insights on 1000x more data at 4x lesser analytical costs. It’s a powerful promise; to simplify and accelerate turning complex data volumes into a single point of the truth, to unlock the true potential of your data and remove siloes and complexity across the business.

I recommend Kyvos as one to not just watch, but to take a look at right now. They are changing the game for business intelligence and data science teams and now being on the Azure marketplace (in addition to already being on the AWS and Google Cloud marketplaces) opens this up to a wider audience in the Enterprise space. It has a strong commercial flexibility with a free edition and a pay as you go platform, which is ideal when combined with Azure’s own platform flexibilities.

You can now find and deploy the Kyvos solution yourself from the Azure marketplace here.
